Money Saving and Space Saving Spice Tips
Are you tired of spices languishing in the back of your cupboard, unused and unloved? Here’s my fantastic tip to share: Make Your Own Spices! It's a cost-effective and space-saving solution that ensures your spices never go to waste.
RAS EL HANOUT BLEND
INGREDIENTS:
2 Tbsp Cumin Seed
2 Tbsp Coriander Seed
1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
1 Tsp Ground Ginger
1 Tsp Paprika
1 Tsp Ground Turmeric
Cardamom Pods (seeds from around 10 cardamom pods)
1 Tbsp Rose Petals (optional)
METHOD:
Toast whole seeds, grind, mix with remaining ground spices, and store.
Your homemade Ras el Hanout is ready to add flavour to your favourite dishes!
ALLSPICE BLEND
INGREDIENTS:
1 Tbsp Cinnamon
1/2 Tbsp Cloves
1/2 Tbsp Nutmeg
1/2 Tbsp Juniper Berries
METHOD:
Mix ground spices or toast whole spices for an aromatic touch. Grind and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months. Say goodbye to unused spice jars!
